The Cabo Blanco Natural Reserve is located on the extreme southern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, one of the most beautiful areas in Costa Rica. The reserve is named after Cabo Blanco Island, which is 1.6 km from the reserves southern tip. The 1270 hectares of mixed forest plays host to a over 240 species of ____ birds, including laughing gulls, brown pelicans and Costa Rica’s largest population of brown boobies, over 150 different species of trees, and a wide array of wildlife. White tailed deer, pacas, armadillo, anteaters, howler and capuchin monkeys, coyotes, porcupines, raccoons and coatis call the forest their home, in addition to many wildcats such as ocelots, jaguarundis, and margays that seek refuge in the foliage—look closely, they are almost impossible to spot in the wild! Don’t forget your camera, water bottle and insect repellent.

Whether you’re a newbie or seasoned adrenaline seeker you are guaranteed to have fun at every twist, turn and splash on your adventure. Bring your swimsuit, sunblock, towel and closed toe shoes. Your four hour ATV tour can take you to Montezuma Waterfall or through Malpais fishing village and the Manzanillo area.

Waterfall and Trek:

Make a day of exploring the exquisite natural waterfalls of Montezuma; which are some of the finest in Costa Rica. Start the day off by enjoying a scenic 40 minute drive from Santa Teresa to the south-eastern tip of the Nicoya Peninsula, where the natural geography has created an abundance of waterfalls over time. Next trek along the rough riverside trail on a 20 minute hike before swinging into the refreshing pools at the fall’s base when you arrive. Enjoy the lower pools of the first cascade (but watch out for other swimmers jumping in from above) or continue to the second or third tier to find the perfect spot to relax, picnic, or sunbath. Make sure to bring your swimsuit, long and short pants, a camera, closed toe shoes (the trail is slippery) and insect repellant. This excursion is not recommended for children under 3 years old.

Height of the falls: approximately 30 m and 24 m

Horse Tours:

Go on a classic excursion through the beaches of Santa Teresa on horseback.
